How does a master key system work?
We use special cylinders with two sets of pins that allow two different keys to open the same lock. One key is the “user key” that only opens one door, while the “master key” is designed to interact with all the locks in the system. It’s a bit of mechanical magic that makes facility management a breeze.
Can someone copy a master key at a kiosk?
Not if we use a “restricted keyway” system. These keys require a specific signature and authorization to be duplicated, meaning an employee can’t just go to the hardware store and make a spare. This gives you total control over how many “keys to the kingdom” are actually in circulation.
What is a “Grand Master” key?
In larger buildings, you might have several different departments with their own master keys. A Grand Master key is the one that sits at the top of the hierarchy and opens every single door in the entire complex. It’s the ultimate “boss key” for owners and facility managers.
Can I add more doors to the system later?
We design our systems with “expansion room” in mind so you can add new offices or buildings in the future. We keep your specific key charts on file so we can cut new keys that fit perfectly into your existing hierarchy. Your security system can grow right along with your business.
