Livestock & Equestrian Fences

Managing livestock or marking a large acreage requires a specific set of skills and a whole lot of post-driving. Our farm fencing in the greater Charlotte area is built to keep your animals in and the local wildlife out at a cost-effective rate.

We offer:

  • Woven wire “no-climb” horse fencing

  • Classic four-board timber fences

  • High-tensile electric wire systems

  • Barbed wire for cattle perimeters

Which fence is safest for horses?

Horses are notorious for finding ways to hurt themselves, so we recommend woven wire with small openings or a classic board fence. These options prevent a hoof from getting caught and provide enough visibility so the horse doesn’t run into the barrier. It is all about minimizing vet bills through smart design.

How long do wooden farm posts last?

We use pressure-treated 4×4 or 6×6 posts designed for ground contact, which typically last fifteen to twenty years in our local soil. For even more longevity, some farmers opt for steel T-posts or locust wood, which is naturally rot-resistant. We can discuss which post material fits your budget and your soil type.

Can I use solar power for my electric fence?

Solar-powered energizers are a fantastic solution for remote pastures where running a power line would be too expensive. As long as the panel gets a few hours of Charlotte sun, it will keep your fence “hot” enough to discourage the cows. It’s a set-it-and-forget-it way to manage your herd.

How do I stop my wooden boards from warping?

Wood is going to move, but using the right fasteners and high-quality lumber reduces the “pretzel” effect. We use galvanized ring-shank nails or heavy-duty screws to ensure the boards stay attached to the posts. A good coat of farm-grade stain will also help the wood shed water and stay straight.

Do you install cattle guards?

For high-traffic farm entrances, we can install cattle guards that allow your trucks to pass through while keeping the livestock contained. This eliminates the need for you to hop out of the truck to open a gate every time you leave the property. It is a major time-saver for anyone managing a working farm.

Very impressed with Grafted, LLC! Sawyer showed up on time, did what he said he was going to do, cleaned up the work area and all for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend his work.
