Safety doesn’t have to be ugly, and a good railing should do more than just stop you from falling. We design and install custom railings in Charlotte that meet all building codes while perfectly complementing your architecture.
We offer:
-
ADA-compliant handrails
-
Modern cable railing systems
-
Traditional wrought iron pickets
-
Glass and metal hybrid railings
What is the “4-inch rule” for railings?
Building codes generally require that the vertical pickets on a railing be spaced no more than four inches apart. This is a safety measure to ensure a small child (or a curious pet) can’t get their head stuck. We make sure all our designs are 100% code-compliant so you pass inspection without a hitch.
How high should a standard railing be?
For most residential decks and stairs, the railing needs to be at least thirty-six inches high. Commercial properties often require forty-two inches to meet safety standards. We’ll help you determine the correct height based on your specific project and location.
Are cable railings high maintenance?
Cable railings offer a beautiful, “invisible” look, but the cables can sometimes stretch slightly over the first year. They are easily tightened with a simple wrench, and once they’ve settled, they rarely need attention again. They are a great low-maintenance choice for showing off a Charlotte view.
Can you install railings on concrete?
Yes, we use heavy-duty anchor bolts or “core-drill” into the concrete to ensure a rock-solid connection. A railing is only as strong as its foundation, so we take extra care to make sure it won’t wiggle or shake. You’ll feel total confidence every time you lean on it.
